In recent times meditating on some teachings from church, I am finding that honor is like a woven piece. If you’ve taken a knitting course or had someone make a piece around you, you’d agree it takes quite a lot of effort and patience and some creativity too. If you walked through the sweater section of a clothing store, you’d see a lot of patterns…varied textures, colors… some just with that soft almost furry feeling over the skin, others too loosely woven you can almost feel the cool air sieve through the sweater to your skin like fine grain.

Honor has a similar tone. It is the beautiful pattern arising from the spooling of the fine wool of values through the needles of patience. Values are the principles and the convictions that we consider essential. Values influence our outcomes. Our values are the building blocks of our character. Values form our disposition to managing time, money and life. Values reflect the standards and principles we esteem. It gives us an identity, Values are like a sail that lead us to the safe shores we have desired. It is important that we establish personal values, church values, corporate values etc…

Some great personal values to adopt would be;

Value People: Jesus valued people so much that he gave his life for people.

Value application of Scriptures: In applying God’s word to our lives daily, we can experience God’s best for our lives.

Value loving Relationships – It is in the demonstration of love with one another that Christ’s nature in us is communicated through believers to the world.

Value Excellence – When we give attention to details, exceptional performance is inevitable.

Some great family values could be – Love God, Love people, Do right and have fun!

To have a value vacuum, is to have frustration, confusion, reflections of irresponsibility and failure.

Take some time to reflect today, What values are you running your life by?

My daddy used to tell me, you know, a circle was once a straight line!

”By choosing to embrace and practice good values every day, you choose the higher course in life. And your life goes in a direction that you will always feel good about. You may not always get what you desire, but you will always be the person you desire to be.”              John C Maxwell.

To build one’s life on the scriptures, is to build a life of great values!

24“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”   Matthew 7:24-27

Your values are your NON-NEGOTIABLES!
